The early days
Seafood and eat it was set up by two brothers: Richard and Neville.
Nev was for many years a fisherman, working on the crab boats wherever the wind took him he finally settled in Newlyn, Cornwall - world famous for great tasting crab.
Rich, an avid foodie, was stuck in a dreary sales job in London and longed to do something more interesting.

Crablubbers
In December 2001 fate played a hand in getting us started when Nev had an accident while landing his catch in France and was subsequently unable to continue fishing.
Fresh from travelling around Central America, I shot down to Cornwall to help him out.
We needed money to get by and so we started buying crabs from his fisherman friends and selling them to local restaurants.
We have lift off!
We discovered a huge demand for fresh picked crab meat.
One thing led to another and with an offer of help from a local business, and support from the Princes Trust and the Fishermans Mission, we soon found ourselves supplying most of the local pubs and restaurants with our gorgeous handpicked crabmeat.
It was a great start.
Seafood & Eat It
We've grown slowly and steadily, keen to ensure we retain the fabulous flavour in our products for which we've become renowned.
We've met hundreds of people round the country that always complain how difficult it is to get their hands on good quality crab meat, which is plain silly being that crab is caught all around the British coast.
Our big challenge now is to help make our good quality, handpicked crab more readily available around the UK.
Save Our Crab
Britain is awash with cheap imported crab meat, often imported from Chile or Vietnam, these products have often been frozen, or over pasteurised, draining them of any flavour.
And what with crab sticks and Alaskan King Crab vying for attention, our own native crab has been somewhat overlooked. Shame on you!
Seriously Fresh crab is in a league of its own and once you’ve tasted crab like this you’ll never put up with second best again.
So why not do your taste buds a favour and support the British Crab Industry.
Eat crab
Our crab tastes fantastic and it’s also full of great nutritional benefits.
White Crab is high in protein and low in fat, and the brown meat is a great source of essential Omega-3 with one pot of our brown crab meat providing a whopping 2/3 of your weekly recommended intake. In addition to all this, our seriously fresh crab is a good ethical choice; you can learn more about this in Crab Skool
We should all be a nation of crab fans, blessed as we are with this fantastic gastronomic resource on our shores. Check out our recipes for some ideas of how you can get crabby in the kitchen.
Great British Crab
Join the campaign to support the Great British Crab.
You can do your bit when you’re eating out by looking to see that the crab comes from one of the UK regions. If a menu doesn’t specify the provenance well why not look the concerned foodie that you are and ask the Waiter to please clarify the origins of the crab in the crab parfait. And then politely decline, if it’s not been caught off the coast of Great Britain.
If you’re buying crab in the shops well look no further than our crabby map which will direct you to a stockiest of our very own Great British Crab.
